"
Alamo or San Jacinto..."
HUCK'S ARMY troops fight for Huckabee, the man and message, in TEXAS
Operation Texas Surge hopes to deliver a Lone Star state win for Huckabee
SAN ANTONIO — Texas is a state famous for people fighting for what
they believe in to the very end, and members of Huck's Army are fighting
for Gov. Mike Huckabee and his conservative message to help the underdog
win the presidential primary there next week.
Texans who are members of Huck's Army have been organizing Operation
Texas Surge for months, recruiting grassroots help from within the
state and working to bring resources and reinforcements from outside
of Texas.
"
We are going to have boots on the ground in Waco, Tyler/Longview, Houston,
Lubbock, Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio -- pretty much everywhere in
Texas turning out the vote for Mike Huckabee," said Shawn Troxel,
a team leader of Operation Texas Surge. "Volunteers are making calls,
putting up signs, donating money, and traveling the state for Huckabee."
Troxel said hundreds of Huck's Army member have been involved with
O.T.S. are many of those are making the trip to Texas this week to
volunteer.
Strategically, winning Texas accomplishes two purposes for the Huckabee
campaign, said Lucas Roebuck, public affairs officer for HucksArmy.com.
"
Most importantly, a Texas win reminds the GOP establishment that they
cannot ignore conservative voters who care about the sanctity of human
life, strong support of the Second Amendment, replacing the broken tax
system, and securing the Mexican/American border," said Roebuck. "A
Texas win could also help Huckabee force Sen. McCain into a brokered
convention."
On the HucksArmy.com discussion forums, posters have been promising
the resolve of those who fought to the death at the Alamo, but are
hoping
for a tide-turning San Jacinto victory.
"
We took the fight to Iowa, Tennessee, Kansas, Louisiana and dozens of
other states," said Brett Passmore, a Texas native and forum administrator
for HucksArmy.com. "Now the fight has come home. We're going to
fight harder than we ever have before."
