Governor Huckabee beats Sen. McCain by nearly 3-1 in Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. -- The grassroots supporters of Mike Huckabee ignored media predictions that the GOP presidential race was over by handing Huckabee a decisive victory in the Sunflower state caucus Saturday.

"I have to salute the grassroots troops in Kansas from Huck's Army," said David Schmidt, National Grassroots Campaign Manager for HucksArmy.com. "They were organized, making phone calls, attending rallies, getting signs out. But more importantly they had the sort of passion and excitement for Governor Huckabee that is contagious."

Huckabee's domination of Kansas comes in part because GOP voters are recognizing that in spite of what some pundits are saying, Huckabee does represent conservative values, said Lucas Roebuck, HucksArmy.com Public Affairs Officer.

"When it comes to the sanctity of life, protection of the Second Amendment and holding the line on taxes, Huckabee resonates with voters," said Roebuck. "Voters ignored the media and saw the support of groups like Kansans for Life, the endorsement of evangelical conservative James Dobson, and Huckabee's pledge for no new taxes with the Americans for Tax Reform -- and they liked what they saw.
