Arkansas Right to Life board president tells HucksArmy.com Huckabee 'Friend of Life'

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. -- No other presidential candidate has been more successful in passing pro-life legislation than Mike Huckabee. Voters who care about defending unborn children and the principals of sanctity of life should know that Huckabee is by far the strongest pro-life candidate from any party.

"For ten years he was governor, Mike Huckabee was a friend of life," Wayne Mays, president of the board of Arkansas Right to Life told HucksArmy.com. "He showed where his heart was year after year by not only backing -- but actively pushing -- pro-life legislation."

As a part of the governor's legislative packages, Huckabee signed into law Act 984 Partial Birth Abortion Ban (1997), Act 1273 Fetal Protection Act (1999), Act 353 Woman's Right to Know (2001), Act 344 Choose Life Specialty Plate (2003), and Act 537 Parental Consent for Minor Abortion (2005).

Huckabee also signed and supported Act 394 Physician Assisted Suicide Ban (1999), Act 236 Safe Haven (2001), Act 607 Human Cloning Ban (2003), Act 1189 Right to View Ultrasound Test (2003), Act 1322 Right to Receive Nutrition and Hydration (2003), and Act 1696 Unborn Child Pain Awareness and Prevention (2005). "Huckabee showed his dedication by marching with us down the streets of Little Rock during our annual Right to Life March where we declared our opposition to Roe v. Wade," Mays said. "It meant a lot to our movement and our people, to see the governor standing side by side with us."

Several state Right to Life organizations with upcoming primaries have endorsed Mike Huckabee. On Friday, Missouri right to life endorsed Huckabee. Governor Huckabee has also received the endorsement and support of state Right to Life organizations in Alaska, Georgia, Montana, and Arizona.

"Other candidates have a good pro-life talk, but Huckabee really is the only one who has actively used his political influence to stem the infanticide," said Lucas Roebuck, HucksArmy.com public affairs officer who covered Gov. Huckabee as journalist in Arkansas for several years.

"Some candidates brag about their pro-life voting records, some candidates have only recently seen the light. Only Huckabee has been effective to bring pro-life governance into reality."
